Following a successful rotation on Lithuania's main alternative radio station, LRT OPUS, with the track The Lake / Ezers, Latvian indie band Mighty Jupiter & The Mooncake Band returns with a bold experiment: their first single released simultaneously in three languages: English (Renewal), Latvian (Atjaunošana), and Lithuanian (Atsinaujinimas). The single will become available on all streaming platforms on August 14th, 2026. The new material can be heard live on August 22nd at the Kaunas club Lemmy, where the band will perform alongside the local act Judu.
Renewal is what happens when you mix midlife denial with just enough self-awareness to make it hilarious. On one hand, you’ve got the guy in pajamas, shaving his way through the monotony of middle-aged normalcy. On the other, his alter ego struts in – bandana, sunglasses, and enough fake swagger to make you wonder if he’s auditioning for a reality show about has-beens who still think they’re cool. It’s a metaphor for the existential tug-of-war between who you are and who you want people to think you are. In the end, you're left with a delightful trainwreck of misguided reinvention. You’ll laugh, you’ll cringe, and if you’re over 30, you might just feel personally attacked.
The Lithuanian version of Remewal – Atsinaujinimas – is the band's first single in Lithuanian.
"At first, it was unusual. 'Getting into' the Lithuanian version of the song wasn't easy, but gradually we managed," says the band's vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter, Anton "Jupiter" Skultans-Marchenko. "Fundamentally, the kinship between the Latvian and Lithuanian languages really helped us understand how this song should sound. The Lithuanian language is very interesting and beautiful. We didn't try to sound like native Lithuanians. We wanted to sound exactly like Latvians singing in Lithuanian, with our own natural imperfections. I think we did a pretty good job here."
To give the track its specific noir atmosphere, the recording features a special guest – Brazilian bass clarinetist Jussan Cluxnei. His extensive background in jazz, classical, and Brazilian music, combined with the band's dense shoehaze sound, has created a highly unique and cinematic texture.
The single's cover art was designed by creative director and illustrator Kato Trofimova (HeyKato Studio). Working at the intersection of design and culture, Kato brings a unique perspective shaped by her diverse background in linguistics, art history, and brand strategy. Her research-driven approach to visual storytelling perfectly captured the track's ironic and layered indie spirit. Adding a deeply personal touch to the release, the charismatic feline model featured on the artwork is none other than Kato and Anton's own cat, Cheetah.

Mighty Jupiter & The Mooncake Band is a six-piece act from Riga, Latvia, playing their self-coined shoehaze: a dense, multi-layered collision of blues-rock, punk, jazz, shoegaze, and baroque pop textures. The band was founded by frontman Antons Skultāns-Marčenko, the main songwriter and guitarist. The band's debut album Forced Fun For The Just OK Life was released in 2024. In 2026, the band introduced a new lineup, began releasing music in multiple languages, and successfully conquered Baltic radio waves, entering the Radio NABA (Latvia) TOP 10 and LRT OPUS (Lithuania) rotation.
